Gliding Saturday 19 May 2012
Gliding will take place saturday 19 May 2012. Departure will be from the Armoury at 0745hrs. Dress is civvies - be sure to dress for the weather! NO OPEN-TOED SHOES, SANDALS OR FLIP-FLOPS!! Wear appropriate shoes for chasing a glider on grass and tarmac and for walking through a stubble field.
Lunch will be provided but bring a full water bottle. Make sure to wear a hat and bring sunscreen and insect repellant. It is better to have too much kit than not enough.
Fitness Testing - Tuesday 15 May
We will be conducting fitness testing tuesday evening 15 May during regular parade times. Dress in appropriate gym attire and with shoes for running.
Highway Cleanup Saturday 5 May 2012
Highway cleanup will start at 8:00 AM saturday 5 May. Be at the 702 Wing Building (0.5km north or the armoury) at 7:45 for briefing. Make sure you dress for the weather. Toque/hat, shoes/boots (no open-toed footwear), jacket as required, sunscreen, work gloves if you have them, water bottle, etc.
Come out and support your units fundraising activities!
Easter Standdown
Unit standdown - no sports monday 9 Apr 2012 and no LHQ parade 10 Apr 2012. Unit sports resumes 16 Apr 2012 at Paterson and LHQ parade resumes 17 Apr 2012.
Fam Flying Saturday 31 March 2012
Fam flying is scheduled for saturday 31 Mar 12 from 0900-1200hrs and 1300-1600hrs. Dress is full uniform. If weather conditions exceed our safety limits, you will be phoned about cancellation of flying.
Bowling and Potluck dinner
Bowling at Holiday Bowl 1-4 PM and potluck dinner at 702 Wing Bldg located approximately 0.5km north of the Armoury on Stubb Ross Road. NOTE: Please be aware the we do have cadets with peanut allergies so please refrain from bringing foods with peanuts.
Please note!!
There will be no sports monday 20 February 2012 due to the holiday and no regular parade Tuesday 21 February 2012. However, there will be a drill team practice in uniform tuesday 1900-2100hrs as well as practice scholarship boards in uniform as well.

Familiarization flying will occur (weather permitting) from 0900-1200hrs and 1300-1600hrs. Dress is full uniform and will be staged from Excel Flight Training Centre located just south of the Lethbridge Airport terminal building. Please note that flying may be cancelled if weather is beyond our permissable limits. You will be phoned if flying is cancelled but due to the unpredictability of the weather, this may be decided as late as saturday morning.
Snowshoe Ex Saturday 4 Feb 2012
Arrive at Armoury at 0745hrs. We will depart by bus for Cameron Lake, Waterton by 0815hrs. Arrive at Cameron Lake trail head 0930hrs. Start hike at 1000hrs. Lunch at Cameron Lake. Depart Cameron Lake trail head by 1430hrs and return to Armoury by 1600hrs.
Dress in layers as per kit list (no jeans). it is better to have too much warm clothing than not enough! Bring water bottle and backpack to carry water bottle and extra clothing. Bring sunscreen, lip balm as required and sunglasses. It will be clear and sunny and the snow magnifies the suns brightness.
NOTE: You must have winter boots or hiking/combat boots for snowshoes to fit properly.
Lunch will be MREs at destination.
Snowshoes will be supplied, military issue gloves will be available but may be too warm. We had expected the weather to be colder.

Mess Dinner 20 Dec 11 @ 1800hrs at 702 Wing Air Force Association
Our annual mess dinner will take place 20 Dec at 702 Wing Air Force Association (approx. 1/2km north of the Armoury).
Dress is full uniform with ribbons. Sgts and above can wear white shirts with bow tie under their tunic.
Guest speaker will be MCpl Webber who was a squadron commander of our unit and is currently serving with the PPCLI.

Unit Range Saturday 17 Dec 0900-1200hrs & 1300-1630hrs
Range on saturday at Vimy Ridge Armoury from 0900-1200hrs or 1300-1630hrs. Dress is comfortable civilian clothing. If participating in both range and fam flying, ensure you bring a both civvies and uniform.
Orienteering 22 Oct 11 at Indian Battle Park -Alberta Shelter 1000-1600hrs
We will be conducting an orienteering exercise at the Alberta Shelter in Indian Battle Park 1000-1600hrs saturday 22 Oct. Dress in layers for the weather and wear appropriate shoes for going through the bush. Lunch (MREs) will be supplied.
The Alberta Shelter can be found by going down the hill from Wendys on Scenic Drive and 3rd Ave into Indian Battle Park, make your first right at the bottom of the hill and take the first left after the Baroness Shelter. The parking lot for the Alberta Shelter will be on the left.
Survival Ex 23-25 Sep 2011
Our fall survival ex runs 23-25 Sep 11 for all 2nd year and up cadets. Information sheets and kit list follows:
Information for Fall Survival Training 23-25 Sep 11.
1. Cadets (second year and up) will be participating in survival training on 23-25 Sep 11 at Syncline Group Campground
2. Cadets must arrive at the Vimy Ridge Armoury at 1715hrs on 23 Sep 11 for a brief kit check.
3. Cadets will return Vimy Ridge Armoury no later then 1600hrs on 25 Sep 11. An updated ETA will be provided while enroute to Lethbridge.
4. ANNEX A contains a kit list with items cadets will be required to have for this exercise.
5. The following staff from 11 Lethbridge RCACS will be attending this exercise:

· Trg Asst-CVs
6. Cadets are reminded that they will be staying in an area with wildlife and are therefore not allowed to have any food or aromatic hygiene products in their possession.
7. Any cadets who are taking medications must report them to CV B Quinn.
8. The emergency contact number is: 403-380-0174 or 403-795-8232, please use these numbers in the event you must contact your cadet. If there is no response, leave a voicemail and your call will be returned.
9. PLEASE NOTE THAT SUPPER WILL NOT BE PROVIDED ON FRIDAY EVENING 23 SEPTEMBER SO ENSURE YOU HAVE EATEN BEFORE DEPARTURE OR BRING A BAG SUPPER TO EAT ENROUTE TO SYNCLINE.

Cadets are not allowed to bring the following items:
- Alcohol, tobacco, non-prescribed medications, illicit drugs, etc.
- Explosives, weapons (excluding small knives), or other dangerous materials
- Small portable Discmans™ or MP3 players
- Food or aromatic hygiene products
All personnel need to eat supper prior to departure or bring supper to eat on the bus while driving to exercise area.

Welcome back to our 2011-2012 training year.
RETURNING CADETS: Our first parade for returning cadets is Tuesday 6 Sept 2011. Get your boots shined and uniform ironed and lets have a good showing. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NEED YOUR PARENTS PRESENT TO FILL OUT REQUIRED MEDICAL FORMS WHICH MUST BE SUBMITTED TO RCSU (PRAIRIE).
NEW CADETS: Our first parade night for new cadets is Tuesday 13 Sept 2011. Please remember to bring your Alberta Health Care card as well as proof of citizenship.
